Question 1: The guys on the team that I play with, just the relationships I build with them, and overall, the atmosphere it brings to me, just all the energy that I would say I feel for baseball. It's just something that's kind of hard to describe because it's just, once you feel it, you know it, and I just love to stay in that feeling all the time. Question 2: I would say because I'm a hard worker, I'm dedicated to the team. I feel like I'm the guy that you can call upon that's in, or like you need to put in a situation to get the job done. I'm that guy to do so. I don't shy away from competition. If anything, I look competition in the face and say, like, I'm going to win. I'm going to do it. Question 3: My mentality on the mound is like kill or be killed necessarily. I attack, I attack, I attack. I don't let up. I will continue to keep going at you. I want to break your back. I want to see you if you can hit me and if you do, good job, but next time you won't. Just I want to win and I will win and I will beat you. That's the mindset that I have. I would say I'm hyper focused on winning each pitch and say I lose a pitch, I'm getting the next one. I don't like losing. So it's one of those things where it's whoever is in the box and I mean whoever, I will win. Question 4: My pregame routine would be, you know, show up to the field, hang out with some of the guys for a little bit, just kind of chat it up, see how they're feeling. And then I would say, since I'm a pitcher, I would say probably about an hour and a half to an hour before I need to get ready. I throw in some air pods, listen to some music. Sometimes it could be rock, sometimes it could be some country, or like times where I feel like I need to calm down a little bit. I listen to this station called Lo-Fi. It's just kind of calming music, kind of calm my nerves, kind of just focus. And then I'll get dressed, get myself down to the pen, and I kind of sit there and I will visualize, like, pitch one, pitch two, just winning each pitch as I go through and visualize each pitch. Then I'll do my stretching. I'll do my bands, really. And then I'll start to do my throwing program, like, I won't say throwing program, but kind of get loose. And then I'll go into my pen and get ready for the game. Question 5: Pre-pitch mindset, for me it's I just tell myself to stay smooth, stay relaxed, visualize where I wanted to like hit the glove and I mean nine times out of ten that's pretty much it. Like if I'm not like I'm having trouble like controlling or hitting a spot here and there like I just tell myself okay we'll get the next pitch I will win this pitch, win the next pitch, win this pitch, win the next pitch and just kind of tell myself to stay calm, stay relaxed and execute the pitch. Question 6: My roommate, Jaron Brown, he, this past fall and this spring, like, me and him, we kind of have a similar background, like family history, etc. But I mean, that kid there, like, he has just helped me and motivated me to do so much more in my life. He just, he continues to push me and push me on, like, in the weight room, out of the weight room. He strives for greatness and he's really helped me a lot, like, understand where I want to be and what I want to do and how I want to do it. He's helped me so much mentally by eliminating distractions, like, just on and off the field. He's a guy that I can always call and that he, I mean, if I have a problem with anything, like, mentally, like, he's the first guy I would call just because he's probably been there and he can help me go through it and coach me through it and sit there and talk about it. I love that guy. Question 7: Right now, an interest of mine right now is probably golf. I really enjoy it because, I mean, if you don't hit the fairway, if you don't hit the fairway, I mean, you just kind of like, or if you don't have a good shot, you just kind of have to necessarily just be okay with it, shrug it off, and make the next shot, which I kind of incorporate it into pitching. It's like, well, if you don't win the first pitch, well, you can get the second pitch, or if you don't win that pitch, you can get the next pitch. And it's just kind of like being able to roll with the punches and being able to get used to a little bit of frustration if you're not hitting it well. Sometimes I would also say that it just helps me kind of, I don't know, get away from life and just kind of do my thing, you know? Question 8: Go to the gym or the local YMCA and go sit in the sauna, go sit in the steam room, the hot tub and then bounce between those in the pool. Just kind of like get the body right before the games, just get my mental space because in the sauna it gets hot and the steam room gets hot as well and it's just more of focusing on my breathing and then when I go into the pool to cool my body down, I mean it's just all mental. Question 9: I would say the experience. One, they've had experience up there. I think my stuff plays, it can play at the major league level. I feel like it can play in the bigs. Obviously, you got to take, they've probably gone through the process and hopefully I can be going through the process as well and hopefully I'll be there being able to play in the major leagues. But I just think that they have experience and their time is now and my time is coming. Question 10: I would say I lead other players in interactions and stuff. Numerous guys came up to me and have asked me, like, how would I go through this or how would I react to this or what would I do in this situation. Most of the time it's more of just like positivity. We'll crack jokes here and there. Just kind of have a good time. But when it comes down to practice, the weight room and stuff, I'm the first one that's doing everything, doing all the reps, not cutting anything short. I think guys watch that and they understand that at the end of the day everything's for the team, everything's for the coaches to buy into the process, to buy into the team and what the coaches want for us. I feel like that is to win. I feel like it's my job and my duty to do everything that I possibly can to help the team win. That being said, it's like being able to be a leader by working hard and getting people to buy into the team, buy into what the coaches are wanting and continue to push everyone and push myself to the limit of becoming a better player and a better human as well. Question 11: There's this guy on my team that I would say he was a bully to a point to other guys. He thought he was the best. He was just angry all the time. He wanted to win and he wanted to push everybody to win, to win, to win. He would just get mad and target individuals and say things that shouldn't be said. How I would react to it is I just wouldn't pay attention to him. If he was going to say something to me, I know if I was going to do it right or wrong. I know if I did it right or wrong. I don't need another player to necessarily come at me in an angry manner or any manner at all. I think that would be the coach's point to do so. I just learned how to either not even notice it or just don't even let it affect me necessarily. Question 12: I would say playing a team that had beat me the previous year, going into that game, thinking about what happened the previous year, during the bullpen I just kind of told myself, like, leave it all on a limb and just kind of give it my all. Don't let the small things turn into big things and just continue to keep pushing and keep throwing strikes. If something happens or something that doesn't go my way, well, just turn around and win the next pitch, win the next A-B, just keep pushing myself to win. Question 13: I would say Jacob DeGrom. He has a very outstanding career and I would just like to ask him, how did you do it? What did you do? And what kept pushing you to keep going? Question 14: If you were to give me an opportunity to play for the organization, I would do everything in my power to bring the best and just do everything that I can do to win games, to just excel in the organization, and I mean do anything to play.
